This is not the same as PDF to JPG
The difference matters and catches people out. PDF to JPG renders each page as a picture — you get the whole page, text and all, flattened into an image. This tool goes the other way: it reaches inside the file and pulls out the original photographs that were placed into it, without the text, borders or page background around them.
If you want the photo from a brochure without the brochure, this is the tool. If you want a picture of the page as it looks, use PDF to JPG.
Why some PDFs return nothing
Not everything that looks like a picture is one. Charts, diagrams, logos and illustrations are often stored as vector drawing instructions — lines, curves and fills — rather than as embedded photographs. There is no image file inside to extract, so nothing comes back. When that happens the tool says so and points you at PDF to JPG, which will capture the visual result instead.
Very small images are also skipped deliberately. A typical document contains dozens of tiny graphics used as rules, bullets and spacers; returning those would bury the pictures you actually wanted.
Quality
Images come out at the resolution they were stored at, saved as PNG so nothing is re-compressed. If a photo was placed into the PDF at 2000 pixels wide and displayed small, you get the full 2000 pixels back — often better than anything you could screenshot.
Questions people ask
No images were found — why?
Either the PDF genuinely has none, or its graphics are vector drawings rather than embedded photos. Vector artwork has no image file to extract; use PDF to JPG to capture how it looks.
What quality do I get?
