Privacy Policy

This policy explains what PDFBuild does — and does not do — with your files and your data. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.

The short version: we do not ask you to create an account, we do not store your documents, and most tools never send your file anywhere at all. What we do have is advertising, and advertising uses cookies. The details are below.

1. Who we are

PDFBuild ("we", "us", "the site") operates the website at pdfbuild.in. For anything in this policy you can reach us at banaopdf@gmail.com.

2. Your files

Tools that run in your browser

The majority of tools on this site — merging, splitting, compressing, rotating, reordering, page extraction, and every image tool — are JavaScript running inside your own browser. Your file is loaded into your device's memory, processed there, and returned to you as a download.

For these tools your file is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We do not receive it, cannot see it, and have nothing to store or delete. Closing the tab removes it from memory.

Tools that use our server

Four tools require software that cannot run in a browser and therefore send your file to our conversion server:

Office to PDF (Word, Excel, PowerPoint → PDF)
PDF to Office (PDF → Word or PowerPoint)
Unlock PDF (removing a password you already know)
Protect PDF (adding a password)

For these, the file is uploaded over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, converted, returned to you, and then deleted immediately. It is written to a temporary working folder that is erased as soon as the response finishes. We do not archive, back up, index, read or reuse these files, and we do not keep copies for any period. Passwords you type into the unlock or protect tools are used for that single operation and are never stored.

Each of these four tools is labelled inside the tool itself, so you always know before you use one whether your file will leave your device.

3. Information we collect

We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or any account details, because there are no accounts. What is collected is limited to:

Standard server logs. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider records ordinary request information — IP address, browser type, referring page, time of request. This is used for security and to see whether the site is working. It is not linked to any file you process.
Anonymous visit statistics. When a page opens, and when a tool is opened, the site sends our server the page address, the website you came from (for example Google or WhatsApp), your browser language, screen size and browser type. From your IP address the server works out an approximate country, state and city, and then discards the IP address — it is never stored. No cookie is set and nothing is saved on your device. To count visitors, a one-way code is made from your IP address and browser and changes every day, so your visits cannot be linked from one day to the next. Nothing about any file you process is ever included. These figures are seen only by the site owner, as totals.
Accounts and payments. Some tools can be marked as paid. Using them stays free; downloading beyond a small free allowance asks you to buy a pass or a single download. For that you create an account with your name, mobile number, email address and a password (the password is stored only as a one-way hash). Payments are handled by Razorpay — we never see your card, UPI or bank details — and we keep a record of what was bought and when. To count free downloads, a random code is kept in your browser's local storage and your IP address is combined with a secret and stored only as a one-way hash. A finished file waiting for payment is kept only in your own browser until it is downloaded.
Advertising and measurement cookies, described in the next section.

We do not build user profiles, we do not follow you across other websites, and we do not sell data.

4. Cookies and advertising

This site is free and is funded by advertising. To show ads we work with third-party advertising partners, including Google.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
You can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info or the NAI opt-out page.
You can also block or delete cookies through your own browser settings. The tools on this site will keep working normally if you do.

Advertising partners may collect and use data according to their own privacy policies, which we do not control. Google's is available at policies.google.com.

5. Third-party services we load

To keep the site fast, some code libraries are loaded from public content delivery networks (cdnjs), and the site's typeface is loaded from Google Fonts. When your browser requests those files, the operator of that service receives your IP address as part of the ordinary web request. No file of yours is involved.

6. Children

This site is a general-purpose file utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, or to object to certain processing — for example under the GDPR in Europe, the CCPA in California, or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act. Because we do not operate accounts and do not retain your documents, in practice there is usually very little data to act on. If you would like to make a request, write to banaopdf@gmail.com and we will respond.

8. Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and uploads to the conversion server are encrypted in transit. The strongest privacy protection here is structural rather than technical: for most tools there is no upload at all, so there is nothing to intercept, leak or breach.

9. External links

Pages on this site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, and this policy does not apply to them.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Material changes will be reflected here rather than announced individually, so it is worth checking this page if you use the site regularly.
