Pick the width first — it is the whole decision
An SVG is a set of drawing instructions, not pixels, which is why it stays sharp at any size. Converting to PNG means choosing where that ends. The number you enter is the resolution the file will have forever, so choose for the largest place it will be used, not the smallest.
Rough guide: 512 px for an app icon, 1024–2048 px for a web image or a presentation, and 3000 px or more for anything going to print. Going bigger costs nothing in quality — the vector is re-rendered at that size rather than scaled up — only file size.
Transparency
PNG keeps the transparent background, which is what you want for a logo that has to sit on a coloured surface. JPG has no transparency at all, so transparent areas are filled with white — fine for a full-bleed illustration, wrong for a logo. If the result is a logo in a white box, PNG is the format you needed.
Fonts are the one thing to check
If the SVG references a font by name rather than converting its text to paths, the rendering uses whatever font your browser can resolve. On a machine without that font, the text falls back to something else and the spacing shifts. The preview shows exactly what will be rendered — if the text looks right there, the output will match.
