Bundling, not shrinking
This tool packs files together; it doesn't compress them any further. Photos, PDFs and Office files are already compressed inside, so squeezing them again would save almost nothing. The .zip is the size of the files in it — just in one piece.
To make the files themselves smaller, use Compress PDF or Compress Image first.
Why zip at all
One attachment instead of twenty, one upload instead of many, and every file arrives with its original name. Every computer and phone can open a .zip without extra software.
Good to know
Every file keeps its own name inside the archive. If two files share a name — two photos both called image.jpg, say — only one of them ends up in the ZIP, so rename one before adding it.
ZIP files open without any extra software: on Windows right-click and choose Extract All, on a Mac double-click, and on Android or iPhone open it from the Files app. The person you send it to needs nothing special.
The archive is built in your device's memory, so on a phone keep very large bundles modest; a laptop copes with far more.
