Terms of Service

By using PDFBuild you agree to the terms below. They are deliberately short.

1. The service

PDFBuild provides free online tools for working with PDF, image and Office files. The service is provided as it is, without any charge and without any account.

2. Your files remain yours

We claim no ownership of, and no licence over, any file you process here. Most tools never transmit your file at all; the four that do delete it immediately after conversion, as described in the privacy policy.

3. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the files you process. By using the site you confirm that:

• you own the files or otherwise have the right to process them;
• you will not use the site for anything unlawful, including processing material that infringes someone else's copyright;
• you will not use the Unlock PDF tool to remove protection from a document you do not have the right to open. That tool requires the correct password and exists for people who own a file and know its password — not to defeat someone else's protection;
• you will not attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer or automate abuse of the site or its conversion server.

4. Keep your own copy

Always keep the original of anything important. Conversion between file formats is never perfect, processing can fail, and a browser tab can be closed by accident. We cannot recover a file for you, because we never had it.

5. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee that the site will be available without interruption, that every conversion will succeed, or that output will be perfectly faithful to the input. In particular, converting a PDF back into an editable Office document is an approximation by its nature — complex layouts will not survive it exactly.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PDFBuild and its operator are not liable for any loss of data, loss of profit, or any indirect or consequential damage arising from use of, or inability to use, the site. Since the service is free, your sole remedy if you are unhappy with it is to stop using it.

7. Advertising

The site displays third-party advertisements to cover its costs. We do not control and are not responsible for the content of those ads or the sites they lead to.

8. Intellectual property

The PDFBuild name, design and site code belong to their owner. Product names such as Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint are trademarks of their respective owners and are used here only to describe file formats and compatibility. This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any of those companies.

9. Changes and availability

Tools may be added, changed or withdrawn at any time, and these terms may be updated. The current version is always the one on this page.
